Special Response Team (SRT)
The Dakota County Jail Special Response Team (SRT) was implemented in 2000 for the purpose of handling emergencies which may arise within the Dakota County Jail. These emergencies include disturbance resolution, cell extractions, mass searches/shakedowns, barricaded subjects, riot control, and violent and/or high volume inmate movement. The Dakota County Sheriff's Office allows the SRT a chance to incorporate a progressive, proactive unit that will be a force multiplier for the facility. The presence of the SRT alone has proven to decrease incident rates within our facility. The SRT is comprised of highly motivated Correctional Deputies who are required to be on call to respond at any time. They are highly trained and use advanced technology that is specifically designed for a correctional facility, allowing the SRT to be more effective at getting the job done quickly without incident. The bottom line is the SRT is effective. The overall goal of the SRT is to ensure that safety, security, control and order are maintained within the Dakota County Jail.
